Dr. Fischl's research interests are in the areas of power systems and power electronics, system analysis and design, modeling, optimization using both classical and new technologies, such as neural network and intelligent computation. He is an IEEE Fellow for his contributions to the design and understanding of power systems.
Some current projects involve power system security assessment and enhancement, transfer and voltage capability of a network, design of decision fusion systems, neural networks for power system application, voltage stability and control, load modeling, high-power high-voltage optically controlled PIN switch for custom power, power device modeling, CAD of circuits, fault tolerant circuits and robust controllers.
